I write to you from icy Denmark shortly after our annual conference that took place in Taipei, Taiwan and which was by all means a very successful meeting.
This is the last presidential letter for 2022 and looking back I feel it has been a fruitful year for ICCS. This letter will be short and will be followed by a more extensive letter in January.
As you already know four of our board members stepped down and on the General Assembly that took place during the ICCS conference in Taiwan four new members were elected.
Thus, we had to say goodbye to our esteemed president professor Tryggve Neveus, our treasurer Dr. Israel Franco, our chair for position documents Dr. Stephen Shei-Dei Yang, and Dr. Anka Nieuwhof-Leppink, all of who completed an eight-year presence at the board. The dedication and contribution of all to the ICCS has been invaluable. I am also sure that they all will continue to contribute to the Society in many ways.
Four new members were elected for the board at the General Assembly.
Dr. Stacey Tanaka Professor of Urology, Chief of Pediatric Urology University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Jianguo Wen, Head of Pediatric Urodynamic Center, First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University China, Chair of Paediatric Urodynamic Group of Chinese Medical Association Vice-Chairman of Chinese Pediatric Surgeon Association.
Dr. Bieke Samijn, Physical therapist, specialized in pelvic floor muscle training and urotherapy. Postdoctoral researcher and teacher assistant at the Physical therapy Department of the Ghent University and urotherapist at the Urology Department of the Ghent University Hospital.
Dr. Michał Maternik, Pediatric Nephrologist at the Department of Pediatrics, Nephrology and Hypertension Medical University of Gdansk.
I would like offer my warmest welcome to all new members of the board. On our site you can read their position statements. I am personally convinced that the Society is in very competent hands.
During the meeting we were also informed that Dr. Erik van Laecke wishes to step down from the board for to personal reasons. This means that there is another vacancy and the board decided to keep Anka Nieuwhof-Leppink as ex-officio board member until our next General Assembly scheduled for the next meeting in Salvador November 2023.
Following the general assembly the new board constituted itself and the positions are as follows:
The Next Conference is scheduled for November 15-17 and will take place in Salvador, Brazil, so mark your calendars. The congress will be led by our general secretary Bira Barroso and his team. He also has a good track record as an excellent organizer of international meetings. Salvador is the home of Brazilian cuisine, music and African-American-European culture and it is crammed with beautiful buildings and great restaurants. More information will follow.
As you might have noticed our site has received a modernization treatment and although generally functional some minor issues might remain including correct members directory.
We are currently working on that as well as a modernization of our membership procedures and payment.
Please do not hesitate to pose questions and suggestions to us in the Board. Your active contribution to the Society is highly valued.
Meet experts in regions of the world that are not represented within the board
Suggestions or comments should be addressed to the General Secretary.
